How the supermarkets are helping – volunteer gift cards, keyworker and other support information

From the West Sussex County Council Partnership and Communities Team

As things continue new processes are being developed to work with volunteers to support vulnerable residents.

Along with priority delivery slots, shopping hours etc supermarket chains have developed a volunteer gift card scheme that allows volunteers to shop in store on behalf vulnerable residents. Alleviating the exchange of cash between volunteers and patients/customers, which I a number of you have raised as an issue/questions.

The resident does still need to access the website to load the gift card with funds but could assist if they can not get a delivery slot for a while.

Please disseminate to those volunteer groups that you are linked with or supporting.

You can download a PDF document here that outlines all the support and business changes being put in place by the supermarket chains.
