Members are hereby summoned to attend an Extraordinary meeting of the City Council to be held at 2.15pm on Monday 21 March 2022 in the Council House, North Street, Chichester

1. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

2. NOTICE OF MOTION FROM COUNCILLOR CLARE APEL

Chichester City Council stands in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and condemns the Russian invasion of their country. We call on the UK government to put in place stringent and effective sanctions against the Russian state.

We call on the UK government to open our borders and waive visa requirements for Ukrainian refugees seeking sanctuary, making it safe and legal for them to travel to this country.

To press principal authorities to plan for housing for refugee families from Ukraine.

That the Member of Parliament for Chichester be notified of this Motion and her views sought.

3. CONTRIBUTIONS TO CHARITABLE CAUSES

To discuss the City Council exercising its General Power of Competence to make a contribution to the Disasters Emergency Committee in support of its work in Ukraine.

4. FRIENDSHIP LINK WITH KURSK

That the friendship link between Chichester and Kursk be suspended for the duration of the hostilities between the Russian Federation and Ukraine.

The filming, photographing and recording of City Council meetings is now permitted by those members of the press and public attending. This includes the use of mobile devices by those using social media. It would be appreciated if anyone who wishes to do this could let the Chairman know before the meeting commences.

However, these provisions will not apply on occasions where the press and public are excluded from the meeting when confidential matters are discussed.

It is requested that discretion is exercised and nothing done to disrupt or distract the meeting in any way. The Chairman will reserve the right to request that filming/recording ceases if it is having a detrimental effect upon the meeting. If you do not wish to be filmed then please let the Chairman know so that alternative arrangements can be made
