City Centre signage and What’s OnThree digital signage boards are to be trialed in the city. They will be installed at the end of August and will feature a What’s On Guide and wayfinding information.
Community Space in the south of the CityResident Survey took place in the spring of 2025. Report can be found here.
Site audit has been completed and suggested nexts steps adopted by the council in June. Full report can be found here.
Keep our properties and spaces in good orderProperty Manager to update
Contribute to city centre pavement improvementsOngoing discussions with West Sussex County Council are being held to ensure the residents voice are being reflected in the the design stage of the project.
Provide face to face support for residents in crisisA Citizens Advice support worker is available at The Council House from Monday to Friday. Drop-in sessions are held in the morning, while scheduled appointments take place in the afternoon
Provide streetlights on footpaths and twittensTwo pilot projects have been installed at The Oxmarket and New Park. A survey will bew launched in the Autumn to gauge the success of these projects.
Install and maintain benches, bike racks, finger posts etc.Property Manager to update
Represent residents on planning applicationsThe Planning and Conservation Committee meets monthly to consider planning applications submitted to the District Council. As a statutory consultee, the Committee is formally invited to review and provide comments on applications that may impact the local area.
Contribute to community wardens, city ambassadors etc.The City Council currently funds 50% of the costs for the City Ambassadors and contributes an equal share towards the expenses of the four Chichester Community Wardens.
Reduce our carbon footprint to reach net zero by 2030The City Council has successfully reduced its carbon footprint by 77%, marking a significant step forward in its commitment to environmental sustainability
Provide grant funding to local voluntary sector groupsThe Community Affairs Committee meets quarterly to review grant applications. Core funding grants have already been allocated, and an additional £50,000 is available to support small grant initiatives.
Maintain the traditions of the Mayoralty and City CouncilThe Mayor represents the City Council at more than 200 events each year, ranging from ribbon-cutting ceremonies and charity fundraisers to award presentations and community celebrations.
Deploy an additional Speed Indicator DeviceProject complete
Campaign for 20mph limits on all major approach roadsDiscussions are being held with community partners to identify the opertunities for furtherdevlopment of the 20mph speed zone.
Twinning ties with Chartres, Ravenna, Valletta and SpeyerFriends Associations are dedicated to nurturing strong relationships with our twinned cities. As part of this commitment, we alternate annually between hosting visitors and traveling to visit our counterparts abroad.
