Festival of Chichester – Poetry and Jazz Cafe with Penelope Shuttle

Acclaimed, award-winning poet and novelist Penelope Shuttle teams up with star jazz saxophonist Jo Fooks to entertain and inspire. Penelope will read from her celebrated books and her new collection Lyonesse, the mythical kingdom of Cornwall. Enjoy a delightful mix of words and top-class jazz with a complimentary cake.

Penelope Shuttle has written over 12 books of poetry and won the Eric Gregory and Cholmondley Awards as well as being nominated for the Forward and T.S. Eliot Prizes. She is one of the UK’s most distinguished poets. She lives in Cornwall.

Jo Fooks rose to fame with Humphrey Lyttleton’s Band and is one of the UK’s highest-profile jazz saxophonists, playing in festivals and jazz clubs in London and across the country.

She will be accompanied on piano by Tim Huskisson. Tim is well-known on the UK and European jazz scene having performed at the London Palladium and the Royal Albert Hall and played with all the greats including George Melly and Kenny Ball.
