No summer tastings programme would be complete without a virtual visit to the Loire, and with this walkaround we’re looking forward to welcoming our Loire growers too!
The ‘garden of France’ delivers summertime in a glass as no other can. Thanks to the river’s complex geology and diverse climates, there’s enviable variety, from the bone-dry, sappy muscadets of the delta through the astonishingly long-lived chenins of Touraine to the crisp sauvignons of the Central Vineyards of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé. Cool, poised, fragrant reds made from pinot noir, cabernet franc or gamay remain almost a trade secret, the effervescent Crémants less so.
With the choice of white or red, still or sparkling and dry, off-dry or intensely sweet, no other region could meet the demands of a complete tasting menu, from aperitif to dessert. In this celebration of the Loire we assemble more than 30 wines to try in the company of their growers.
Filling that fridge in time for summer will be easy!
About in person ‘taste-along’ events
These events are all about ensuring our members get to taste as many of our wines as possible. They vary in size and theme, but all provide a relaxed environment for our members to guide their own tasting with a glass and booklet provided on arrival. Whether you want to discover something new, reconnect with an old favourite or try a wine you’d never ordinarily approach, then our walkaround tastings could be for you.
Tickets are available here: https://www.thewinesociety.com/product/chichester-loire-growers-walkaround-tasting
Please note, tickets are not available in advance from the Council House/Assembly Room
