MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE VIRTUAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL-IN-COMMITTEE HELD ON WEDNESDAY 6 OCTOBER 2021 AT 2.00PM

PRESENT:

  • The Mayor (Councillor J Hughes), The Deputy Mayor (Councillor Joy), Councillors Barrie, Carter, Gaskin, Harry, C Hughes, Lishman, Plowman, Quail, Scicluna, Sharp

APOLOGIES:

  • Councillors Apel, Bell, Dignum, Gershater

IN ATTENDANCE:

  • Town Clerk, Deputy Town Clerk (Responsible Finance Officer), Mayoral/Administrator Assistant, Member Services Support Officer

39. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

As recorded above.

The Town Clerk advised members that although Councillor Bell had given apologies for this meeting he wished to record his support for nominations D and G but wished to abstain from voting for all other nominations.

40. PRESENTATIONS BY PROPOSERS OF NOMINATIONS

Presentations were given by the proposers of the nominations.

41. EXCLUSION OF PRESS AND PUBLIC

It was proposed, seconded and AGREED that the public and press would be excluded from this briefing because of the confidential nature of the business to be transacted, namely Annual Award Nominations.

42. CIVIC AWARDS 2021

Councillors considered Civic Award Nominations A-D and I.

Councillor Plowman declared a Personal Interest in Nomination I.

Councillors Plowman and Scicluna declared a Personal Interest in Nomination D.

Councillors discussed and supported each of the nominations.

It was AGREED that nominations A, B, C, D and I be offered a Civic Award 2021.

43. YOUNG CITIZENS AWARDS 2021

Councillors considered Young Citizens Award Nominations E and F.

Councillors discussed each of the nominations

It was AGREED that nomination E be supported and offered a Young Citizens Award 2021. Further AGREED that nomination F not be supported for a Young Citizens Award but that contact would be made with the proposer and an appropriate separate recognition of the achievement be made.

44. COMMUNITY AWARDS 2021

Councillors considered Community Award Nomination G

Councillors discussed and supported the nomination.

It was AGREED that nomination G be offered a Community Award 2021

45. BLUE PLAQUE 2021

Councillors considered Blue Plaque Award Nomination H.

Councillor Quail declared a Personal Interest in this nomination.

Councillors discussed and supported the nomination.

It was AGREED that nomination H be offered a Blue Plaque 2021.
