Countering Extremist Narratives workshops
A series of online and in person workshops has been organised by Small Steps, Groundwork and West Sussex County Council aimed at countering extremism targeted at West Sussex’s vulnerable communities.
Project Description
This project will consist of 12 training sessions and will be delivered via face-to-face or online delivery by a former reformed Extreme Right-Wing (ERW) activist and mentor who supports people to leave extremism to provide maximum attendee engagement and learning experience.

Workshop will include
- Highlight how extremists are specifically targeting young males with Autism/associated conditions.
- Look at the impact on the individual, their family, and ways families can reduce extremism.
- Extremists online activity, groupsoperating, recruitment techniques.
- Strong counter-narratives to extremist arguments.
- Support attendees to have difficult conversations with people susceptible to extremism.
- Highlight how people suffering from abuse (male & female) including people who are homeless or young people who have been bullied/abused, all of whom are today specifically targeted by extremists.
- Provide lifetime access to a secure online forum with – films podcasts, news, handouts, and mentoring support items.
