FINANCE COMMITTEE

PRESENT: Councillors Loxton, Miall, Scicluna and Squire
EX-OFFICIO: The Mayor (Councillor Quail)
ALSO IN ATTENDANCE: Town Clerk, Deputy Town Clerk (Responsible Finance Officer), Property Maintenance Manager, Project Manager
44. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE
Apologies were noted from Councillors Corfield and Pramas.
45. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST BY MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE IN MATTERS ON THE AGENDA FOR THIS MEETING
None.
46. KITCHEN UPGRADES
The committee RESOLVED to accept the recommendation made at the Property Sub-Committee meeting held on 24 September 2024 (minute 24 refers) approve the kitchen upgrade works as specified in option 3 of the Property Maintenance Manager’s proposal, the works to be completed in house, up to a maximum cost of £20,000.
AGREED that the project would be funded from the Council House ear-marked reserve.
47. TIPPER TRUCK REPLACEMENT
The committee RESOLVED to accept the recommendation from the Property Sub-Committee meeting held on 24 September 2024 (minute 26 refers) that a second-hand diesel tipper truck be sourced as a replacement vehicle for the Property Maintenance Team with a budget of £25,000.
Further RESOLVED to approve up to £4,000 for the fit-out requirements, to include City Council branding.
AGREED that the purchase and fit out of the new tipper truck would be funded from the General Reserve.
48. COMMUNITY FACILITY IN THE SOUTH OF THE CITY
The Committee RESOLVED to establish a Working Group, reporting to the Finance Committee, to develop proposals for the provision of a community facility in the south of the city.
Town Clerk to invite interested parties to join.
