ShopMobility

Chichester City Council’s ShopMobility scheme offers powered scooters for hire to anyone, regardless of age, who experiences difficulty walking around the city centre. This service provides greater independence and access to shopping areas and tourist facilities. Importantly, users do not need to be registered disabled to benefit from this service.

The powered scooters maximum carrying capacity is 140Kg (22 stone).

Call 01243 788502 or email shopmobility@chichestercity.gov.uk to make a booking.

If your call goes to answerphone, please leave a message containing your name, contact details and the date/time you require. We will only call back if we are unable to fulfil your request.

Charges

Shopmobility is hiring service, chargeable as follows:

Minimum charge £5.00 up to a maximum 3 hours

Total charge after exceeding 3 hours usage up to maximum 6 hours £10.00

Note: These charges go to maintenance, insurance and expansion of the fleet.

Registration & Training

To use the service, we need to conduct a short training session which lasts approximately 15 minutes. This is so we can provide you with important safety information and ensure you are comfortable in using the scooter and ensure safety of the pedestrians of the city.

When attending this session, please bring the ID as detailed below. Upon completion of the training, you will be asked to sign our “Terms & Conditions of Hire”.

ID Requirements

2 forms of identification required:

  • Photo ID (Passport, Driving Licence)
  • Letter with Proof of Address (Bill, Bank Statement)

Parking

There are dedicated Blue Badge Bays available on North Street, and Little London Car Park Chichester (Charges may apply).
