Refurbishment of existing signalised junction; 1410 Southgate/Basin Road, Chichester.
West Sussex County Council needs to carry out road works on the signalised junction 1410 Southgate/Basin Road Chichester.
What they are doing
- Upgrading obsolete traffic signals equipment with a new traffic signals controller and more energy efficient LED traffic signal heads.
- Replacement traffic signals poles will be installed.
- Pedestrian tactile paving is to be replaced.
- Resurfacing of a stretch of northbound carriageway, north of the level crossing.
When this will take place
The work will start on 22nd September 2025 and is expected to take seven weeks to complete. Our hours of work will generally be between 08.00am and 17.00pm.
Before the works start, we will erect advance warning signs in the local area, letting you know any changes to the start date and marking the extent of the works.
Road Restrictions during the work
In order to protect our workforce and the public:
- The A286 will be closed at the level crossing.
- Temporary traffic lights may be used throughout.
- Access to property and businesses will be maintained at all times.
