Chichester District Council – free membership – Superhomes Network

Chichester District Council is offering free membership for a year to the SuperHomes Network for the first 40 people to register.

The SuperHomes Network is a membership organisation to help people learn about insulation, solar and heat pumps before committing to having any work done. It provides an opportunity to ask questions from retrofit experts through regular webinars. Membership normally costs £50 per year. If you are interested in taking advantage of the free membership offer you can enter your details on their Join the Network page – you do not need to fill in any further payment details after the first page. It will ask you for payment details but ignore this. They will have your name and address and see the Chichester postcode and contact you about the free membership offer and their next ‘Welcome to the SuperHomes’ webinar is next Tuesday 25 April, 4.30-6pm.

SuperHomes, which is run by the National Energy Foundation, are working with Petersfield Climate Action Network (PeCAN) to deliver Whole House Retrofit Plans in East Hampshire and Chichester Districts. Through SuperHomes, a Whole House Retrofit Plan costs £500 for a typical 3 bedroom property and £600 for larger homes. However PeCAN have a special offer for properties in council tax bands A-D where the costs is reduced to £250 up until September 2023.

A Whole House Retrofit Plan involves a Retrofit Coordinator assessing your property and providing a detailed plan showing how energy efficient your property is now, what it can achieve and then outlining a phased guide to work you could do to improve the energy efficiency of your property. This helps you do work in the right order and to plan and save for the work to be done.

If you are interested to learn more about retrofitting your home, but do not wish to use SuperHomes, TrustMark have a useful guide to Retrofit plus videos: Retrofitting Your Home – Making Homes More Energy Efficient (trustmark.org.uk) and you can find accredited Retrofit Coordinators via their ‘Find a Tradesperson’ database.
