French speaking or bilingual student sought for placement in Chartres, France

Chichester has had a twinning link with Chartres, France, since 1959 and we recently received the following request.

Institut Notre Dame (IND) is a French school with an international outlook.

We are looking for a young English-speaking person for a volunteering mission within the French “civic service” system, for a period of eight months (from October 2022 to June 2023).

He/She must be between 18 and 25 years old, and a native English speaker or fully bilingual.

The candidate’s role will involve bringing his/her culture, language and country to life. He/she will assist the English teachers, lead fun workshops, and participate in the life of the school.

The civic service allowance is €473 per month. His/her schedule will be 24 hours a week. The classes involved will be from the “6ème” to the “Terminale” (children aged from 11 to 18) on the site of the IND, 2 avenue Béthouart, in Chartres.

We offer free accommodation (in downtown Chartres) and lunch during school hours.

As a tutor, I will personally take care of the administrative file with the FNOGEC / civic service, as well as welcoming the candidate and ensuring his/her integration.
