Multiway traffic lights affecting roads around Stockbridge Road – essential gas main replacement
From Monday 05 January for approx. 10 weeks SGN engineers will be carrying out gas main replacement work in the local area. These works are essential to ensure we can continue to maintain a safe and efficient gas supply to the local community and avoid gas leaks in the future.
Due to the location of the gas main in the road, we will need to have temporary multi-way traffic lights and parking suspensions in place within our work areas. The following is our phased plan.
Phase one: Monday 5 January for approx. 3 weeks
We’ll be working on the junctions of Stockbridge Garden, Stockbridge Road, and Grosvenor Road – multiway lights will be in operation
Phase two: from Monday 26 January for approx. 4 weeks
We’ll be working on Selsey Road, St Georges Drive, Poyntz Close- multi-way lights will be in operation
Phase four: from Monday 23 February for approx. 5 weeks
We’ll be working on Birdham Road – multi-way lights will be in operation on Birdham Road – junction Selsey Road to Junction of Strides Court
Please note – there is an overlap in dates to allow for reinstatement and team progression with work not requiring traffic lights – only one set of temporary traffic lights will be in operation at any one time.
Traffic lights will be manually controlled Monday to Friday, 06.30hrs-1900hrs.
We understand temporary traffic lights are disruptive for local road users, please can we assure you our teams will be working as quickly and as safely to complete these works with out delay.
If you need to speak to us about these works, please email our customer service team customer@sgn.co.uk or call us on 0800 912 1700, they will direct your enquiry to a member of the team for response.
Important – Road closure on Stockbridge Road, future works planned
We will need to return at a later date in 2026 to complete the replacement work required on Stockbridge Road between the junctions of the A27 and Grosvenor Road – this work will be completed under a full road closure between these junctions. We will keep you informed of dates as soon as they are confirmed.
We’re sorry for the inconvenience our works cause and thank you for your patience
