Read Easy Chichester and Arun – helping adults learn to read
Read Easy Chichester & Arun (RECA) uses trained volunteers to deliver confidential, free, 1:1 coaching of adults who want to improve their reading. We are a new implementation group of the national charity Read Easy UK and one of c.80 volunteer-led groups across England. Through this network of highly committed volunteers, the charity has a track record of helping significant transformations taking place in people’s lives in different ways as they learnt to read. There are about 10.000 neighbours in our District who struggle with reading – if you know someone who struggles with reading or would like to find out more about what we do, please contact:
- Lynn Painter (for readers in Chichester to the coast): cacoordinator@readeasy.org.uk tel: 07827 09620520
- Jane Jones (for readers in Bognor Regis): cacoordinator2@readeasy.org.uk tel: 07827160778
- Narmada de Silva (team leader): caleader@readeasy.org.uk
We are happy to talk to colleagues working in referral agencies, family and friends, and the readers themselves. There are many reasons why some people didn’t learn to read at school, but the most important thing to know is that it’s never too late.
Please note that as a new group, we are building our reach across the two districts, Arun and Chichester. We are starting by offering coaching to readers in Chichester and Bognor Regis areas. We hope to extend this offer to readers in other places in the area during 2023.
