ShopMobility
Chichester City Council’s ShopMobility scheme offers powered scooters for hire to anyone, regardless of age, who experiences difficulty walking around the city centre. This service provides greater independence and access to shopping areas and tourist facilities. Importantly, users do not need to be registered disabled to benefit from this service.


The powered scooters maximum carrying capacity is 140Kg (22 stone).

If your call goes to answerphone, please leave a message containing your name, contact details and the date/time you require. We will only call back if we are unable to fulfil your request.

Charges
Shopmobility is a hiring service. Charges are as follows:

Up to 3 hours (minimum) | £5 |
Up to 6 hours (maximum) | £10 |
Note: This is a not-for-profit service. These charges go towards maintenance, insurance and provision of additional scooters in the future.
Registration & Training
To use the service, we need to conduct a short training session which lasts approximately 15 minutes. This is so we can provide you with important safety information and ensure you are comfortable in using the scooter and ensure safety of the pedestrians of the city.
When attending this session, please bring the ID as detailed below. Upon completion of the training, you will be asked to sign our “Terms & Conditions of Hire”.
ID Requirements
2 forms of identification required:
- Photo ID (Passport, Driving Licence)
- Letter with Proof of Address (Bill, Bank Statement)

Car/Taxi Drop Off Point.

Car Parking
There is blue badge parking in North Street, outside the Lakeland and British Heart Foundation shops. Alternatively, there are carparks on Northgate, next to Chichester Festival Theatre and in Little London, behind the East Street branch of Marks and Spencers (parking charges apply).
Bus Stop
The closest Bus Stop to The Council House is on West Street, opposite the Cathedral. From there, it is a few minutes walk to the Council House in North Street.
From the bus stops, head towards the Market Cross in the middle town. Turn left in to North Street. Continue up North Street until you reach a large red brick building with arches, opposite the ladies/homeware branch of Marks and Spencers.
