West Sussex County Council – update on Chichester parking
West Sussex County Council will shortly be extending the Chichester Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) into your area. Chichester District Council will administer the scheme on our behalf. This leaflet explains what is happening and how you can obtain further information.
How did we get to this point?
In March 2019 and February 2020, a public consultation took place on proposals for a city-wide Parking Management Plan. The responses were considered by County Councillors and a decision was made to implement the proposals in phases. This first phase is comprised of new parking zones in Donnington (Zone A) and Swanfield (Zone S) as well as the addition of various roads into the existing CPZs (Zones F, H and N).
Which roads are included in phase 1?
Zone A (new zone) includes:
Badger Walk, Belgrave Crescent, Birdham Road, Bywater Way, Crosbie Close, Croy Close, Cutfield Close, Deer Close, Forge Close, Gordon Avenue, Graydon Avenue, Grenville Gardens, Grosvenor Road, Manor Close, Marden Avenue, Poyntz Close, Selsey Road, Southfields Close, St Georges Drive, Stockbridge Gardens, Stockbridge Road, The Meadows, Turnpike Close, Upton Road, Waterside Drive and Wiston Avenue.
Zone F will now be extended to include:
Cawley Road, Ormonde Avenue, Peter Weston Place, Quest Close, Velyn Avenue and Winden Avenue.
Zone H will now be extended to include:
Needlemakers, St Agnes Place, St Pancras and The Hornet.
Zone N will now be extended to include:
Broyle Close, Broyle Road, Infirmary Terrace, King George Gardens, Little Breach (all), Springbank and Wellington Road.
Zone S (new zone) includes:
Barnfield Drive, Baxendale Road, Bostock Road, Bradshaw Road, Carse Road, Conduit Mead, Cornflower Close, Graylingwell Drive, Harvester Close, Kidd Road, Kingsmead Avenue, Lime Close, Mansergh Road, Millfield Close, Morants Close , Palmers Field Avenue, Peacock Close, Prior Place, Seddon Close, Sloe Close, Southdown Close, Spitalfield Lane (part only), Stephens Close, Story Road, Swanfield Drive, Tenacre Close, The Pitcroft, The Waterplat and Westhampnett Road (part only).
Please note that private roads do not form part of the CPZ and residents in those roads are therefore unable to apply for residents/visitors permits.
When is the work taking place?
The works to alter road markings and signs will start in March 2021. Please look out for further notices displayed in your road, which will indicate a more accurate works date nearer the time. Our contractor will need the road to be clear of cars so that they can paint the lines, so we ask you to please move your car before the day that work is indicated on the notices. If there is bad weather, the contractor will reschedule the work and amend the notices. We do understand that this might be inconvenient, especially with more people currently being at home, and we will try to ensure minimal disruption but offer our apologies if this does happen. The new markings and signs will not be operational straight away.
