VACANCY FOR A COUNCILLOR

PARISH COUNCIL OF CHICHESTER CITY

EAST WARD

  1. THERE IS A VACANCY ON THE ABOVE PARISH COUNCIL.
  2. A BY-ELECTION TO FILL THE VACANCY WILL BE HELD, IF WITHIN 14 DAYS (not counting Saturdays, Sundays, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day,  Good Friday or Bank Holidays) FROM THE DATE BELOW, TEN (10) ELECTORS FOR THE PARISH WARD (in which the vacancy has occurred) OR PARISH (whichever applies) GIVE WRITTEN NOTICE TO REQUEST THAT THE VACANCY BE FILLED BY ELECTION TO THE RETURNING OFFICER, CHICHESTER DISTRICT COUNCIL, EAST PALLANT HOUSE, 1 EAST PALLANT, CHICHESTER, WEST SUSSEX, PO19 1TY (Telephone 01243 785166).
  3. THE NOTICE MUST BE GIVEN IN WRITING OR ON A FORM OBTAINABLE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE RETURNING OFFICER AND MUST INCLUDE THE ELECTORAL NUMBERS OF ALL ELECTORS REQUESTING THE FILLING OF THE VACANCY BY THE ELECTION PROCESS.
  4. IF NO SUCH NOTICE IS GIVEN WITHIN THE TIME ALLOWED, THE PARISH COUNCIL WILL FILL THE VACANCY BY CO-OPTION.

Councillor Kevin Hughes

It is with sadness that the City Council announces the untimely passing of Councillor Kevin Hughes.

Councillor Hughes passed away at St Richards Hospital on the morning of 1 September 2022.

Councillor Hughes was elected to the City Council in 2019 and will be much missed by all.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

We are looking for a young English-speaking person for a volunteering mission within the French “civic service” system, for a period of eight months (from October 2022 to June 2023)
